| Description | There were two similar postings on job board, both of them mentioning goblin artifact. In fact, those postings where incompatible as both conflicting sides asked TFC for help. Therefore, Basha added a note that only one of those jobs could be taken, as otherwise two groups from TFC will fight each other and it was unacceptable. One of adventurers, Siva, who was assembling group for this mission decided to learn more details about the conflict between goblin and dwarfs, who made those posting. As he found out TFC was previously hired by an organization, named GOAT, which is short for Goblinoid Oversight and Analysis Team. This organization used TFC to investigate growing activity of Axehead clan and steal artifact, that was mentioned in those new postings. Therefore our group decided to continue providing support to that organization and to side with dwarfs.
We headed to the location, marked on the map, that was attached to the job posting. There we met a dwarf named Berkam Tofdiram, who explained that his mission was to deliver that artifact to GOAT's base, but he understood that he couldn't do it himself, as goblins pursued him. Therefore, he decided to hide in the forest for several days and to call TFC to escort him and his cargo to the destination point. We arrived to him on our own transport, but it turned out that Berkam had an amusing wagon, powered by magical crystal, that was much faster. Besides, it was reinforced by iron plates and looked like a transportable fortress. So we got into his wagon and went along the route. For an hour or so everything was fine, but then we had to stop in front of a fallen tree on the road. Berkam released the homunculi, which were hidden under the bottom of the wagon and were designed for mechanical work, like clearing obstacles. They did not have time to start work, as we noticed that a tree nearby was strewn with goblins and we were ambushed. I counted twelve goblin on that tree and also a goblin shaman was hiding on the opposite side from our wagon. They almost managed to take us by surprised but, we defeated that group of goblins before their reinforcements arrived and continued our route. Very soon we noticed hobgoblin riders on direwolves who were catching up with us. We didn't have a chance to take a break after previous encounter, but we had no choice other than accept that fight. We began to fire spells and arrows at the pursuers. Our druid took form of moorbounder during previous encounter and was still remaining in it jumped off the wagons roof and after killing one of the direwolves he jumped back. We decided that eliminating mounts was a good idea and continued to attack them. We ended up killing three or four mounts and only two hobgoblins managed to jump onto the wagon, where we defeated them in melee. So we were able to break away from the chase, but that wasn't the end of our mission as we later stumbled into a long traffic in front of the bridge. We had a suspicion that troubles were laying ahead, but we couldn't go around that bridge, so once again we were left no choice. As we got close to the bridge, we found out, that there happened an explosion. Wagons were scattered across the bridge and blocked the way. Our group, except Berkam, got out of the wagon to inspect the bridge and to try sort out the rubble. We were moving along a narrow passage between the wagons and as we got near the middle of the bridge, where was a small fortification, a barrel fell between the members of our group, completely obscuring the road. We were ambushed once again and we happened to be in a very bad position. Our enemies were placed higher than us and part of us had to get over the rubble. While climbing to the upper level of the fortification, where our enemies were, we had already received a portion damage. I managed to get there quite fast by teleporting to my echo. Our druid turned into an octopus and climbed the wall. As for our paladin and rogue, they were much slower and they couldn't get to the top level for a long time. As were fighting upstairs I managed to get there quite fast by teleporting to my echo. Our druid turned into an octopus and climbed the wall. As for our paladin and rogue, they were much slower and they couldn't get to the top level for a long time. As we were fighting upstairs I managed to drop down a hobgoblin, who didn't survive that fall. It seemed like we almost got the situation under control. But than suddenly, as a strange-looking goblin died between our lines, after his death a cloud of poison covered me and all of my allies. Me and paladin were lucky to avoid poisoning, unlike druid and rogue. They were slowly dying and our best option was to finish the fight as fast as possible and help them. Everything went badly and finally them both fell unconscious. Our paladin used his power to wake up rogue and to remove poisoning from rogue, but he was mortally wounded once again immediately. The paladin and I were fighting in opposite corners of the fort, and I was first to clear my way to help rogue and than druid, so they were back to feet. But while I was helping allies, an enemy monk got to our wagon and attacked Berkam. We immediately rushed to help him and after we defeated the monk the fight was over. The further route to the GOAT's base passed without incidents. This was one of the hardest missions I've ever done in TFC, but it also was one of the most satisfying at the same time. |
